It is no secret that people with higher intelligence are more successful in everyday life: better education, better careers as well as a better social circle and standard. But many of them are unable to experience the joy of their lives. Well, what is the reason behind this?
They have very high standards with them
Intelligent people know exactly what they want and what they can do. So this attitude of reaching higher standards will never allow you to settle for less money.
Third, they act as their own strict judge
They have too many rough theories and penalties. They always try to analyze their behavior too much. Thus they are never satisfied with what they achieve.
Fourth, reality is often boring to them
It is true that they can understand the deep structures and meaning of life, but they cannot be patient until they find it. Unlike other normal people, they will not be happy about the small joys of life. They always want more. Unfortunately, they are not always available.
They try to find communication and understanding that they don’t always get
Understanding someone is really an important feeling of comfort. When you are often at work with deep complexity, you will experience extreme stress that those around you will never understand. As a result, you begin to feel lonely.
People with high IQ often suffer from mental health problems
Some of the most common cases among people with high intelligence are social anxiety and bipolar syndrome. In the midst of all of this, depression is often seen.
Once one’s basic needs have been met, there are three things that academic literature points to as the elements of happiness: having meaningful social relationships, being good at anything, spending a number of days, and being free to make life decisions independently.
But research on happiness has provided something a little clearer: being better educated, richer, or smarter does not do much to predict whether someone is happy. In fact, it means that one is less likely to be satisfied with life.
If you take into account the need for expertise, that is, the need for skill, there are two broad approaches that one can take to become very good at something. One approach is to engage in what are called social comparisons. That is, wanting to be the best person to do something: “I want to be the best professor out there” or something like that.
There are many problems with it, but one big problem is that it is very difficult to assess. What are the elements to judge someone from a certain dimension? What are the elements to be the best professor? Is it about research, teaching? Even if you only teach, is it the ratings you get from students, or is it the content you give in class, or the number of students who have passed or passed an exam? It is therefore very difficult to judge, because when a field is narrow or technical, these yards become more and more obscure.
So it’s common for people to be so uncertain – even if they ‘re not so relevant – in the yard. People judge the best professors by the number of awards they receive, or the salary they receive, or the school they attend. Face to face it seems like a good yard to judge how good someone is, but at the same time it doesn’t apply to a particular field.
Those yards are the ones we adapt to quickly. So if you get a big increase this month, you can be happy for a month, two months, maybe six months. But after that you are going to get used to it and you will need another big bump. You can see in many people that it is not the source of much lasting happiness.
An alternative approach is to learn a little more about what makes you really good and what you enjoy doing. When you do not want to be compared to other people, you are gravitating towards what you instinctively like, you are talented, and if you focus on that for a long time, chances are very high that you will somehow advance to mastery and fame. That power and money and everything will come as a by-product, rather than something you directly chase when trying to outperform other people.
If you want to go back to the three things that people need, expertise, rights and autonomy, I will add one-fourth after meeting the basic requirements. It is the attitude or worldview that you bring to life. That worldview can simply be characterized by one of two styles: one extreme is a deficient-minded approach, and my victory will be someone else’s loss, and you will engage in social comparisons. The other view is that what I call the most widely oriented approach, everyone has the potential to grow.
If you are caught in a war zone, you are in an area of poverty, you are fighting for your survival, you are playing a competitive sport like boxing, deficit mentality plays a very important role.
Around for a very long time, there was a shortage of food, a shortage of resources, a lack of fertile land, and so on. Therefore, we have a strong tendency to become deficient. But I think over time what has happened is that we do not have to literally fight every day for our survival.
